“Oh, hey Jim, what’s up?” she said in her usual cheerful voice.

“Well, I may have found a house. I haven’t run it by Maggie yet but it may be the perfect place,” I said.

Nancy replied, “Wow, where did it just come up on the market? We just checked the listings a few hours ago!”

“No, it’s a friend’s house. Her name is Mama Vermillion, at least that’s who she’s known as. She owns the flower shop in the Quarter. She’s Layla’s caregiver,” I said.

“Oh, I know that shop and I’ve met her. A lovely woman, yes. So how much is she asking and what’s the address? Has it been appraised?”

“No,” I said. “It’s a friend deal, but I want to pay for an appraisal if Maggie and I decide to pursue this.”

“Okay, well, send me the address if you do!” Nancy said.

“Okay, I will, and thanks for all your help!” I said, and as we hung up, my phone rang. I reached to answer, knowing this was going to be from Maggie.
