Searching for the candles while Maggie disappeared into the bathroom, I was feeling pretty good about abandoning the “beer for supper” plan.
I really never know what to expect when it comes to Maggie. It was one of the reasons I was so attracted to her. She was unpredictable and was always keeping me honest, which I really loved, but it could be a bit unnerving. So, not knowing what was coming, I assumed our talk tonight was about to happen. I sensed she was feeling pretty open about things, hence the candles.
I heard Maggie closing the bathroom door behind her as I was already in bed with candles lit. She took a few steps, giggled and playfully dived onto the bed. I’m a little slow on the uptake, so it took me a while to realize that Maggie and Mama were constantly talking about Layla, but at this point I was working from the assumption that Maggie already knew what was bothering me, or at least had some ideas about it. I started off our conversation with, “So, you know the story about this medallion thing?”
