“Oh, the same. He just turns into a big puppy around her and they roll around on the ground together,” she said with a chuckle.

“How’s Strider?” I asked.

“The vet said Strider got stung three times on the nose!

He said a few years ago the same thing happened to a local dog around here somewhere and that hornets stung that dog to death. He couldn’t believe that Layla wasn’t stung and that Strider was only stung three times. No one can believe it.”

Just as I was about to add to this conversation, there was a knock at the door and Dr. West entered the room.

“Well, good evening, Jim,” he said as he glanced down at his chart. “The nurses tell me you’re feeling better?”

“Yes, the sleep is helping!”

“Yes, I’m sure that’s true,” he said and then, “We’re going to keep you in here overnight, and if everything looks good you should be able to leave tomorrow, but I’d suggest you take it easy for the next four or five days.”

“I’ll see to that!” Maggie said from the end of the bed.

“How’s Sam?” I asked.
