“Okay, thanks!” I said, then Sam disappeared out the front door. I could see him walking on a path along the back of the house, and from the back porch windows I noticed the windmill. He was making his way there with Strider running ahead of him. Wow, he was born here, I thought. “Amazing,” I muttered out loud.

Just as I said that, Maggie entered the room carrying Layla and she said,
“You’re too young to be talking to yourself, sweetheart!”

I said, “Well, I hear it’s okay to talk to yourself as long as you don’t answer yourself!”

We both laughed out loud and then Maggie said, “Let’s take Layla for a walk!”

“Okay, that sounds great. I’ll get the stroller.”

“The stroller!” Maggie said.

I looked at her, a bit puzzled, and then realized that we were in the country now. “Oh right, yes, well, I’ll just put Layla up on my shoulders!” And with that we were out the door and headed towards our first adventure.
