“Sam is going to need a longer stay in the hospital due to the number of stings he received and some minor complications due to his age, but he is fully conscious now and we have moved him out of intensive care.”
“Oh, that’s good!”
“You very likely saved his life, Jim. He was very near death when he arrived here.”
“Oh, I can’t take credit for that. It was Maggie that gave him the emergency first aid.”
Dr. West just smiled and said, “I’ll be by in the morning around 10am and if everything looks okay you guys should be on your way by noon. Maggie, I would like to ask you to drive if you decide to go back to New Orleans tomorrow, though.”
“Okay, Dr. West,” Maggie said.
“Okay, goodnight then,” and out he went.
I was actually feeling a little hungry so I asked Maggie to go get me a pizza. With that she said, “No, you’re going to eat the hospital food just like everyone else has to!”
“Spoken like a true nurse!” I said.
Never could get much past my Maggie.
We spent a restful night together.
