“Cute!” I said as I walked across the room to kiss her.
“Me or the dog?” She smiled.
“Huh, both, but mainly you!” I said.
“Oh thanks, and yes we decided to bring Buddy home mainly because Layla refused to come home without him!” Maggie said, smiling while shaking her head.
“I saw that coming before I left,” I said, smiling and turning towards Layla.
“How’s it going, big girl? How’s little Buddy doing?”
Layla looked up at me and with her piercing blue-green eyes she said, “He’s the best doggie!”
“He sure is!” I said as I rubbed his belly. He did seem very good-natured and I could tell he was going to be a very big dog. He had huge paws for a two-month-old puppy.
“Where are we going to keep him?” I asked Maggie, who was standing beside Layla and me as we played with Buddy on the living room floor.
