“I guess we’ll find out in the morning. But, honey, this better be good because I’m not feeling all that great about any more mumbo jumbo,” I said.
I was hoping that would be the end of it. I knew I’d gone as far as I could with this, so if something didn’t happen and happen pretty fast, I was ready to put my foot down.
With that said, we both called a truce and agreed that Maggie had one more shot at this with Mama Vermillion, and then that was that.
I woke up pretty early after not sleeping that well and decided to make some coffee and then take a walk. I left Maggie in bed and, after a cup of coffee and a quick scan at the newspaper, I headed out the door. New Orleans is a great city to walk in, more like a European city than an American one. I really didn’t have any particular route in mind, so I just wandered around. Stopping at a few of my favorite shops along the way, I peered into the storefronts to see what their latest wonders were. I especially liked the store that sold the antique coffee pots.
