“Oh, hello, Dr. Todd. Have you brought me Maggie? Dr. Henderson is expecting her.”
“Yes, this is Maggie and her husband Jim,” Jonathan said.
And with thank yous all around, Jonathan left us with Nurse Blake who promptly wheeled Maggie into an examination room.
“So, Maggie, while we are waiting, Dr. Henderson wanted me to prepare you for a sonogram. Is that okay with you?” she asked.
“Yes, that’s fine,” Maggie said.
I watched as Nurse Blake asked Maggie to put on a gown and then left the room to get the sonogram machine.
“Can you believe this?” I said.
“Talk about royal treatment,” Maggie said.
“Wait until you hear what Charles said as I tried to pay him for the taxi. Does everybody in this town know Mama Vermillion?” I said.
“Apparently, you should hear Dr. Henderson talk about her. He says she’s the best midwife in the country. He goes on and on about how many times he’s assisted in births with her.”
I helped Maggie get into her gown and then there was a slight knock on the door. It was Nurse Blake with the sonogram machine.
