“I said, ‘No, I don’t want to go back,’ but all of a sudden I was movin’ back real fast in the tunnel and when I stopped I was sittin’ in the branches of that old tree. I was lookin’ down on my body and it was covered with hornets, and then up crawled Layla with old Strider by her side, and as soon as she sat by me the hornets they all left my body. They was buzzin’ all around us but they couldn’t sting us. I saw a few get old Strider on the nose, but that just made him bark and yelp out loud and then y’all came a runnin’. Just as you, Maggie, swept up Layla and you, Jim, grabbed my heels, I went back into my body and the next thing I remember I wake up in here, in the hospital. All I can tell you is I was prayin’ to Jesus and the Lord God Almighty while I was lying there being stung to death by those hornets, and just as I was passin’ to the other side, your Layla, well, the Lord sent her to save me.”
Sam was crying now, I was crying, Maggie was crying.
