Smiling, I said, “I thought you’d never ask.”

Sitting there, I felt the three of us, Maggie and Layla and me. We were all very connected somehow. It was as if Layla was totally present with us and aware of what we were doing. Maggie began her story.

“When Mama started her song with me in the nursery, she placed her right hand on my heart and her left hand on my belly, and Layla was moving around and we were laughing. The next thing I realized, Layla was with me and we were drifting off to sleep. I never heard Mama leave the room but I felt Layla like I had never felt her before. And then I realized I was dreaming. It wasn’t like any dream I’d ever had because it was so real and it was in color and I could feel the wind blowing my hair. I could hear birds singing and I was barefoot and I could feel the warm earth under my feet. I was walking down a path in a meadow and everything was so alive and everything was connected like it was me somehow and I was everything. As I walked on this path, I felt total peace and total love. There was no fear.”
